    Default hen and rooster

Hi folks. I just won what appears to be a new razor on the bay. It says hen and rooster as well as Solingen. The only info posted was that “it hadn't been sharpened or carried“ which I thought was rather funny. Is this a known brand of razor? Is it decent?

    Thanks

If you look in the razor brands to avoid section of this forum I believe you find it there

If it is marked Solingen, not Spain, it is a good razor IME. Older H&Rs made in Solingen were as good as they come, and better than most. The newer Solingen made ones ...... at least the one I have, is real good. I've heard the Spain made H&Rs are lesser in quality but at least one member here reported that his shaves good. Get it pro honed, unless you can do it yourself, and report back how it shaves for you.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thank you sir! This one does say Solingen though the pictures on ebay were not the best. I can't wait to find out what I have. I hone (no expert mind you) on a progression of synthetics and naturals so we'll see how she performs. I will most definitely report back.

    Cheers!

Cool, thank you! I'll make sure to reference it in the future to help avoid the bad ones.

    Cheers

Indeed! I have one made in spain... It is the one on my profile picture with the red scales! It is stainless so it took me longer to get the edge... I have been shaving with it for a while once a week since i rotate my 7 razors every day... It is def not comparable to my Boker, Aust, wade but it shaves well and i am happy with it! It was my first razor to hone because of the price... And i have seen that the solingen look like they are built better for sure... I think they put most of their efforts on their knifes! They have good looking knives...

Haven't tried posting a pic here yet and this is a copy of the one on the 'bay. I'll take better pics when the razor arrives.

    Cheers
