    Default Score!

I found I nice little treasure today at Uncle Frank's house today. He was my grandmother's uncle. The house has been abandoned for almost 20 years except for the brief period when my band practiced there a few years back. I went up there today to look for an old shave brush I remembered seeing and decided to do an all out search. Well I found a bunch of old knives, a few DEs and some arrow heads. I was about to leave when I noticed a little pack of leather rolled up and tied together. JACKPOT! The first one is a Genco Masterbarber. The second is an Imperial and the third is a Wade and Butcher 7/8 inch. I've been wanting a bigger razor and the WB is perfect. I may eventually do a full restore but I'm just going to clean the rust up and hone it. Just wanted to share

Very nice! Good on you and remembering to give it a once over.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Thanks guys! I'm hoping to get an edge on the wade and butcher tonight. I reset the bevel on it but my 6000 king and Cnat are at home so I have to wait a little for the final touches

It is pretty tough to beat a nice vintage Wade and Butcher, I love both of mine. Good luck on giving her a new life!

Well I've cleaned up the wade and butcher a little nd honed it up. I shaved with it last night and did okay. I need to refine the edge a little more but so far it did fairly well. I did a little research and so far have determined its pre 1890 do to the tang stamp. It says "Manufactured Wade & Butcher Sheffield" with the arrow and B in a circle. Anyone have a better ballpark figure of the age?

Well im no expert in dating razors but by the look of the blade and scales i would say this razor was probably made between 1870 to 1880 give or take a few.

Thanks Martin103. I took the blade out of the scales and have started cleaning it up some more. This one is going to be sweet. I honed up the Genco last night and shaved with it this morning. It's a sweet shaver. But I'm really looking forward to the W&B getting done

Your Grandmothers Uncle? Always sweeter when it is an heirloom. I think there is a thread for Heirlooms here somewhere.
