Thanked: 0Found my Grandpas razor
I was looking through some stuff and found what I think was my grandpa's straight razor. It says dubl duck satinedge with the 2 ducks between dubl and duck on one side of the shank and the dubl duck/ 2 ducks on the right side of the shank with pearlduck above the 2 ducks and solingen below the 2 ducks. Does anyone know if this particular razor fits in the 1930's/1940's time period which is when I'm assuming he would have bought it.
The razor is in really good shape except that whoever sharpened it made the edge kind of wavy instead of straight. It has a small stain on one side of the blade but looks like it could be re-honed and be a shaver. I tried to strop it but it wouldn't even get close to sharp. Is it possible for a blade to be too thin to re-sharpen? Thanks for any info.

You have a nice double duck razor. without photos we can't tell what condition it is in. since it is your grandpa's razor I'm sure you want take good care of it so please look at the videos that apply to maintance and care of a razor. there are several videos by different people and the two I have watched is by Lynn Abrams and Gssixgun. Lynn Abrams you can find on the internet just type in Lynn Abrams straight razor videos and they should show. there are many videos from taking care of the razor to shaving with one. and before I forget welcome to the place.

Thanked: 433The condition looks really nice! I can't really tell from the pictures but there might be a bit of a frown on the edge. It should hone up nicely, those are usually really great blades

Thanked: 0I'm going to assume that frown is the edge being not true, turning down. That's what I called "wavy". I'm going to check out the link that rezdog posted and have it honed.
