    Default Size really don't matter

Last year I found an antique store that had about 25 razors of different manufactures. So not to act to interested I bought several of them one at a time. in this bunch was a 4/8 Friodur 89 1/2 Henkel. This razor had no box but gave the appearance of no use at all. Because of it's size I cleaned the dust off it and oiled and stored. Now this was last year about August. Lately I've been reducing my collection and found this one in the gun safe. So I got my hones out and started my routine of honing. I was completely surprised how quick the edge was set. Then the 3K and 8K. popping hairs quickly. finished on the naniwa 12K and stropped. the Hanging Hair Test was no problem. I had planned on letting this one go and staying with the larger blades but now I don't know. if it shaves as nice as it honed then it's found a home. I told a friend that my favorite razor was the boker red injun 100 because It was given to me and it shaves so well. He told me that over time I would have many favorite razors. Looks like he was right again. the size of the blade doesn't really matter it's how it performs and feels in your hand. Goes to show you the old saying to listen to your elders has meaning. now if there not your elder in age they might be in experience.

Well I tried the 4/8 tonight and I have to say it's got a home. It handled well and shave good. I have to say I have razors ranging from 4/8 to 8/8 and when they are sharp they all handle and shave good.

    HOLY F N COW!

I just acquired a 4/8 Swedish razor. Looked un-used and i thought it was 5/8 and hey, it's a swayback!

Had a teeny bit of damage (pushed slightly) bit of edge, but was arm-hair popping out of the box. So I honed it out tonight and as odd and funny and quaint and wispy as that little blade might be, dang it shaves great. I started with three razors, quickly eliminated one, and then went for the full second pass and clean up on this "Red Devil".

Damn it's little. and curvy. This may have a permanent spot in my rack.

Jello is no smoother than my face right now.
