Almost looks Hebrew! Kidding! Could be a dialect and/or style for the country intended. Older than WWII I think! Does it say anything on the obverse tang?
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Like I said to Bouschie no other markings whatsoever Pre WW2 would be impressive due to the condition is awesome. I got it off ebay from a guy down under and the price was pretty good. I need to have it honed to get it ready and a strop is on the way!

It seems a bit of a stretch, but John Finnis and razor do have a connection.
"Abortion and Health Care Ethics" by John Finnis
"Upon conception, the entity possesses the "epigenetic primordia" that gives it the potential to develop into a human being. To draw a line in any stage of its development would result in an unnecessary mess of multifarious entities, which would lead to unnecessary complications that ought to be shaved off immediately by Occam's Razor. There are many articles on him and most contain the Occam's Razor quote.Than ≠ Then

The writing is Altschrift or Sütterlin, an older style of German script that was phased out around the 30's (I read and write it, it's a long story), but this should help date it as the script really was just not used in any kind of official capacity after WWII. The transcription for the writing on the tang is "Goldschmi.." I can't quite make out the last few letters but it's likely Goldschmied.
edit: here is a link for Sütterlin if anyone is interested. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%BCtterlin
