Actually found two interesting threads, one is an interesting series of posts started by Martin103 with all the various W&B etchings and razors, just the thread I didn't need to see....sheesh!

Then I found the post for that W&B at auction, and the bidding started at $10,000, with an estimated sale of between $25,000 and $40,000, turns out it is a:

RARE Wade & Butcher Display Straight Razor. Commemorative razor ca. 1876. This one of a kind razor with both sides deeply etched with American scenes of ships and trains, mixed with nymphs and mermaids on reverse side. The front side is etched with a scene of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The blade is heavily file worked and completely cover the etched scenes of American industry, commerce and various American ways of living. This Razor is an important piece of history and would complement even the most advanced collection. Excellent condition. 20 inches long closed.

So, guess I'll cross that one off the list....

I would throw $500 down for one of these (and then probably a lot more for the rest;-))

Wow that/s a great set and probably rarer than hens teeth.

For me I would talk to our Aussie blade smiths and get one of their customs
And maybe have enough change to buy a few beers to celebrate my good fortune.

Ok, I take it back...$500 might get you in the door to watch the auction.
The easy road is rarely rewarding.

TI Sparticus Dreadnought in blue box elder burl. I saw someone get one of these a year or so ago and it is just the best looking razor I can think of.

I think it was Rodgers. And if one was offered to me under $500 in NOS shape, I'd buy it.

That set is owned by a member. I don't recall who it is. He was asking like $3,500.00 for it in the classifieds IIRC. If I had the $ to spend I might have went for it. Most beautiful set I've seen.

Dylan, it is a Joseph Rodgers that a guy put on the bay for $50.00 buy it now. He lived a couple towns away from me and I met with him at the Dunkin Donuts and I didn't have to pay shipping. He even offered to buy me a coffee but I declined. It was his grandfather's in the original box. Had to hone a chip out but still a great piece. One of those cases of being in the right place at the right time.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

There are many options. One is a vintage straight razor CV Heljestrand Eskilstuna Sweden no. 6 6/8+ NOS.
