Anyone seen scales like this before?
This was on a Wade & Butcher i picked up of the bay listed simply as a Sheffield blade. Not only its it oddly shaped,IMO, but it is about a 1/4 inch too short

That was rescaled and a questionable job too.

yeah. i knew they were not original. just never seen any that looked like that. not even open along the bottom. It was very poorly done in pretty much every aspect. I haven't removed them yet but i think they may have drilled out the pivot hole to do it too....

I'm pretty sure those are the scales from a Durham Duplex, or one of the similar demi-hemi-quasi-safety razors.

One of my 'pet peeves' back years ago, before ebay started showing thumbnails on the pages, was guys that would list a Durham Duplex (hate 'em with a passion) and say that it was "Ivory handled straight razor"
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Ironic. since Sheehan-era Durham Duplex bought out Wade & Butcher.

I thought they were Urham Uplex's??
That's what most sellers say!
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
