Thanked: 44Looking at this one
I have been bidding on this one
Vintage Straight Edge Razor & case REAL GERMAN EAGLE HOLLOW GROUND | eBay
However the price is starting to creep up and i was wondering if its worth going for or just leave it be
I know valuations are not allowed i was just after more of an idea of the condition from more experienced eyes

The pictures are not very good...no hi res shots and the opposite side of the blade is not shown at all. I would look for something that is easier to tell what you are buying.
The easy road is rarely rewarding.

Thanked: 634I agree with Splash one. If they do not show all sides they may be hiding something. There are plenty of good razors out there. If it were me I would pass.

Thanked: 39I'm assuming that the "magnetized" claim is just salesman's puff; would I be correct in thinking this?

Thanked: 44Hehe I may be able to tell you if I don't get out bid and have to bite the bullet, I've only bidded up to £10 (about $16) so no biggie if I win and it turns out to be a dog. I won't be bidding any higher now though, thank you as always for the advice
@Crystal: no idea about the magnetic tag, as you say its probably sales patter. I don't see how a magnetic blade could improve a shave but it would be nice to know.

Many blade brands made reference to magnetism. It's meaningless, but not a problem. What bothers me about this blade is that there is some apparent "Devil's Spit" near the spine. I could live with that at the spine, but the edge looks blackish as well. If that is Devil's Spit, and it is hard to tell from the photos, then pitting will result from it and lots of honing will be required. I have an unusable big Wostenholm where that is the case, and all the honing in the world won't fix it.

Thanked: 634If you can't get out of your bid and win the razor you may still have a way out. If the razor has problems not mentioned in the description you may be able to open a case. But first try to resolve the problem with the seller. Good luck.

It makes you look better...gives you that "magnetic personality" that the women love and plenty of other as yet undiscovered benefits.
