Very nice indeed, both the razor and the scales!

That is one nice looking razor.

Also I am happy to see Ralf Aust's razors getting the love they deserve here. Always nice to see quality goods get the recognition they deserve.

Good and bad news from my Ralf Aust razor: the good is that the razor works well, the bad is that I have spotted pitting on the spine. Quickly I cleaned the surface with an abrasive agent, but now I'm slightly worried, because never happened before that my new and freshly made razors starting to produce pitting.
I dried the blade accurately as usual and I can't understand how is possible that the pitting starts within 2 weeks. May be this steel is particularly prone to the oxidation?

I'm a huge ralf aust fan - that's an awesome looking razor.

I'm really thinking of adding one to the collection. Very nice

Had the same thing happen to my entry level Aust, 1 week and 3 shaves later.....I had a fit... thought maybe just my inexperience.. haven't had any problems with my "new" Dovo... hmmmmm

I have 2 R. Aust's that are over a year old and neither has any pitting, or stains of any kind. I just dry them and then leave them open to dry for 6-8 hours, before putting them in my rotation case. Have you used any oils or other chemicals that could have contributed to the discoloration? Or could it be from some finish you used on your scales?

I own 10 Austs, only one of which is stainless, all the others are carbon steel.

Living 1/2 mile from the sea, none has shown any pitting or signs of corrosion so far, but then again, I store them away from the bathroom, carefully dry them and give them a thin coat of Ballistol after each use, and leave them for a few hours open in the bedroom to allow any residual moisture to evaporate.

Very nice razor. The maple scales blend in with that blade so nicely, it looks like it came hat way!
