Thanked: 4The start of my collection
So I went to a nearby antique mall today. Picked up some razors. Got a good deal on all the non straight razors bundled. Can't tell what I gave but it was a bargain Now I need to clean them up. Not so sure about the straights though.
· Eversharp Schick Injector Razor – 1946
· Schick Krona
· Gillette Atra. Came out in 1977. First Gillette with pivoting head.
· Gillette Super Speed 47-54 (my year 1953)
· Red Tip –C2 second quarter of 1957 made from 1955-1960
· Lady Gilllette 1971 3rd quarter (r3)
Straights
- A. Kastor & Bros Germany 1876 through 1937. I'm guess its early 1900's or 1800's The 30's models seem to be stamped as OMB and not <O> <B> <M>. The fancy design on the tang is also present.
- Can't read the other yet. Looks as if it starts as L. LE (something) bros Germany

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Interestingly, the last one pictured has a feature on the front tang discussed in an earlier thread. Seems the maker is obscured by the hash marks(looks like something and sons?), but Germany is pristine on the back. Last one I saw had the slashes on both sides. It sure looks like a Boker to me??
Ideas?Last edited by sharptonn; 07-16-2014 at 04:14 AM.

I think it is a Boker 1056 made for and stamped with a hardware/barber's supply name on the front tang. Seems someone wanted to obliterate the name on the front, probably a new owner of the business, or someone who bought out old stock to resell.

Thanked: 4With a ton searching on the Internet and a magnifying glass and a ton of patience I have discovered the name.
L. Levenson's Sons
http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ons-razor.html
and another website both show that L. Levenson's Sons was a dry goods manufacturer in the city of Boston.
I'm guessing that Boker made the Boker 1056 for that company. Maybe the deal fell through so they marked out the name and sold them all to another company/retailer???Last edited by JustN; 07-17-2014 at 01:00 AM.
