Look like W. H. Oates was from Manchester at 69 Thomas st, established in 1848, found reference to him at this location up to 1930 or so. Listed as a cutler, the few razor ive came across looked fine to me, as to yours its all about the condition.

Hey Wullie!! I sew and I quilt and shave with a sharp(tonn) honed straight razor.

Wet shaving brushes, 10 paces, dawn, tomorrow!!

AWESOME!! Since you have thrown down the gauntlet, I ACCEPT!!

I believe it customary that I choose weapons.

I choose, HOT AIR BALLOONS AND WATER PISTOLS at 2 thousand yards at a location to be mutually agreed upon, at 1400hrs on the 5th Saturday of Feb, Year of Our Lord 2015.

I checked my calendar and that date is clear. AGREED! with one condition. Victorian formal wear in lime green, complete with top hats and sword canes in case of hand to hand combat should the balloons crash.
