Hey Bob... Are you from the Hunter area? Or anyone else reading this?

Yes Andrew, Im a professional cricket umpire. I live at ANNA bay, but usually am in the Newcastle area on weekends for the cricket, so I just wandered in to this antique store. It may be useless, this razor, but it can be made sharp enough to shave. I love the hard leather covered case. Someone from the distant past loved this razor. It has plenty of hone wear, would have been a 6/8 but now might be a 5/8. To be honest though, of all my razors, this one isn't really up to being considered available for the rotation. Just an experiment really. I could pass it on to a person who could properly restore this old piece. so if you live in Australia and want to have a go at it , drop me a line, and you c an have lash at it.

    Cheers Bob

    Bob!

I think I have the box for that razor... I went back to that antique shop yesterday and bought this razor but the box it came with says Garanti on it, same spot in the window and everything. Very faintly, but it is there.

Thanks Andrew, but I went to another Antique shop in the Blue Mountains and made ten bucks! I've sort of changed direction a bit. I have probably ten vintage razors that mostly came from Ron Spencer (RSPE7027) that are all restored nicely when they arrive. I've recently hunted down some bargains on new razors (Harts, TI's) so I dont really have the skill to rescue some of the antique shop razors. I still look but my collection box is overflowing, and my family are starting to recommend I see a Psychiatrist.....lol Have a look at Shaver Hut for top deals on Harts, which are incidentally terrific shave ready pieces. I got a 7/8 SQ Pt Satin finish for $199. In the US they are nearly $300. As of Yesterday they still had a fair few, have a look mate.

    Regards Bob

Making the big dollars! There is mens shop in Leura that sells razors and gear. They had some Dovos, Harts and TIs as well but they were closer to the $300 mark.

I don't know I could convince my wife to let me splash out on a brand new razor but she's happy for me to get these old ones, I guess they keep me busy for longer

Andrew, I know the shop you speak of. I am an ex cop was stationed at Katoomba for years (Many years back now). My extended family are all mountain people, so I'm up there every month, seeing kids, grandkids, etc. There are some good antique shops up there, but like everything in the mountains it's expensive. I was in that Leura shop, they had a dovo Grenadille for $370. That's Leura for you. Cheers mate
