For me, hands down it's these two Wade and Bucher, 9/8's. One is the Celebrated, For Barbers Use, and the other a perfect Chopper, both spike points. I find them literally magical, and they handle and shave so well it is like bliss....

I tried a nice clean Kropp 7/8 and it's a little big - not bad, just big. I used it for a quick 2-pass on many week days.
I keep going back to a 6/8 never-heard-of-it Frank Dodd Sheffield "GEM". It cost little, stays shiny and sharp, tunes up easily and shaves like a dream. That and a 5/8 Boker. And a 5/8 Bismarck. S'bout it. Selling the rest - I guess it took me a year to find my cozy niche.Last edited by MisterMoo; 07-31-2014 at 04:04 PM.

Some beautiful razors on display here! I am on the smaller side of the blade spectrum. Prefer 6/8 an smaller. Even love my couple 4/8's. They all have been neglected a bit as of late. I have been in testing mode with the feather system. All the different models an blades. If I had to pick my sweet spot razors its an easy choice for me. 5/8 & 6/8 Kobar round points.

My 5/8 Fred dolle, its the sharpest of the lot and my first full restore and rescaling. I like it so much I made a new set of scales and am putting the final coats of true oil on them. I stuck with Paduak and orange g10 wedge but used a more traditional shape and lined the p aduak with gray g10. Its only 2 3/4" long from tip to heel.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

I love my 5/8 and 6/8 razors. Sometimes a little 9/16 is fun to take for a quick spin as well...especially for under the nose.
