I'll have a few handmades soon...and most have longer than normal tangs. One's a true monkey tail, but I believe it's spoken for.

The Maestro has made several razors with elongated Monkey tails and they all came out nice. The most recent was a matched set of Snakewood ATS 34's. He does them when ever someone requests them on the custom orders. Tis the beauty of customs point, width, blade and handle material and monkey tail of your choice(or whats available).....lol.

The only draw back I can see with the 'monkey tail' design is....no, space for the middle pin (design).

(sigh) Monkey tail, middle pin, monkey tail, middle pin? What to choose....

And, wait a second Joe, '...already spoken for..."?! But, op, um, hey!
Where do we get to see these beaut's, and 'speak for them'?!

(so many custom razors, so little money )

I'm waiting on one of these Wostenholms to arrive and when I get it - will be promptly shipped to Jason for a set of carbon fibre scales. Should look fab!

    Can't wait

The other drawback is the tail gets in the way when shaving your neck :-(

OH, I just thought of another (possible) 'drawback' of the monkey tail blades....

The blade (buisness end = cutting edge) is usually shorter than a 'traditional' straight razor. For example the over all length of the razor closed is the same but to compensate for the longer tail the blade is shorter....At least that's my experience with the 'Depew' razors. This might not be the issue with the other types (I'm not familiar with any other 'monkeytail' razor than the Depew)....

I'm thinking that if the blade was standard size (~2.5-3" long x 5/8+" wide) and then the tail was exteneded to 'monkey-tail' status, that would be one LONG razor! I know it wouldn't fit in any holding tray that I have!

BUT, with that said....I'd like to see one.
