A personal Robert Williams
I should start off by stating that Robert Williams razors are my absolute favorite. I am slowly working on a 7 day set. Very slowly.
I am a huge dog person, and Grace (my German Shepherd) is getting on in years. She turned 8 in July. She is the best dog I have ever had (over 50 years) and I wanted something special to always be able to remember her by. This summer I commissioned Robert to make me a custom with the following specs:
7/8 French Point
Satin finish on blade
Ivory Scales
Black Horn wedge
Paw Print engraving on the spine
A portrait of Grace scrimshawed on the scales
I had expected the razor in time for my birthday in September, but Robert's wife was just never happy with her drawings of Grace's portrait. She was working from a few pics of her, and she kept thinking she got this or that wrong. Looking at her sketchpad she must have done at least a dozen portraits before coming up with one she liked. Robert sent me the pics Friday. I can't wait for this special razor to arrive.
For those who have never worked with Robert, all I can say is he is simply wonderful to deal with. A total class act and a true asset to the community.

Thanks. I was thrilled that Robert's wife worked from real pictures of Grace. Robert kept sending me e-mails telling me that he was sorry for the delay but that Berni (his wife) was once again redoing the sketch because she wanted it to be just right since it was quite special to me. Robert is just a total class act all the way around.
