I have a Hess Otto's Special Wedge 200 and a Red Imp 132. Side by side they are very similar.

Without the stamps on the tang the blades are are almost identical but the Red Imp has a slightly thicker tail.

As for the scales the over all dimensions in all ways of the Hess is larger, but it is also shrinking like the Imp.

I just got of the phone with Roger Hess and the mystery is kind of solved. Mr. Hess stated that there was no real way to get a exact production date. The dates of production on the "35" were the mid 1960's through mid 1990's. The blade was made by DOVO for Hess. He said that it was not very popular for them, because it was a wedge razor and that barbers did not like wedge razors. He could not give me any info on numbers produced, but stated that there were not that many "35's" out there, because of it not being very popular with their customers, the barbers.

If you talk to Roger Hess again ask him what happened to Hair Milk, it is the only product that has not made me look like Quasimodo.

Either way, Hess seems to be quality. Company in the U.S. and blades done in Germany. I have had several Stainless 44's and a 42 wedge.
The OP's is carbon steel. Good razors, Hess!

I remember a story from here where a member absconded with a pile of red-scaled razors left behind in the old Hess warehouse.
He sold them, IIRC. Perhaps this is one of them?

An Imp-like-Hess??? Can't go wrong bro. I sold my Hess 42 for diddly squat on the bay...and I regret it. Keep yours, sounds like a jewel.

    P.S.
    I'm a barber and I think wedges kick @$$!
