Thanked: 2Hess Hair Milk Laboratories Razor
I am trying to find out some info on a Hess Hair Milk Laboratories 35 straight razor. I cannot find anything on the 35, does anybody know anything about this razor?

We like pictures, the more the better.
Make sure that you get both sides of the tang and as much detail as possible.
Wholesalers, Dealers, Barber Supply Houses and Retailers had razors made for "private label" from the late 1800's to the 1950's +/-.
When there were over 500 razor makers in Solingen alone it was not that hard to have someone make you a run of razors with your own name on it.
Then again we may have a member who has every model they made...
But it starts with pictures please.Last edited by MJC; 12-06-2014 at 09:37 PM. Reason: typo

Hmmm...looks just like a (Case/Morris/whoever else used the name) Red Imp 132 with a different name!
The easy road is rarely rewarding.

Thanked: 3225Yes it does look a lot like a Case Red Imp to me also and in nice shape too. It would be really hard to say who actually made the razors for Hess, as said before Hess razors are a house brand and over time could have been made by any number of different makers depending who they gave the contract to. Hess being a barber and beauty supply house you could almost bet that the razors were quality or they would not have been in business long. I have a Hess 44 stainless but no clue who made it. All I know is the 44 shaves very well.

And the Wise Men say...you have a very nice razor.
A close up of the back side of the Tang (not the "Hess 35" side) might - read - might give a hint.
But I am with the others, this looks like a Red Imp (A razor held in very high regard around here)
In the hands of someone who has honed the Case/Red Imp they would get some sense.
No matter what, it looks to be in excellent shape and will make a great shaver.
Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a Hess Hair Milk Laboratories #35. When the Hair Milk Laboratories were moved offshore the 35's were the first to go........happy shaving. Honed, it will do the job.

Thanked: 2Thanks guys! Would anybody have a possible date of production?
It is a nice razor, it was easy to shave with. It took me a little while to adjust to it. It did not give the feedback (noise) like the Gold Dollars that I have been using. Would that make it a 1/4 hollow grind?
