Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Yeah, it's not like the wood just grows on trees...

Trees are a renewable resource, unfortunately if they are not replanted there is no renewal. A lot of these wood that we prize so much are very slow growing to boot. Add to that the very destructive, to the environment, and unregulated harvesting methods used in places where these exotic woods grow and you are on the road to extinction. Raping it is.

My favorite gunstock wood. I recall some of my customers paying upwards of $1500.00 for a blank. Fine checkering points up nicely. Just a beautiful wood.

Chaffee (rastamanwood) is a cool guy, he even cuts some 1/8th-3/16th blanks for razor scales, which makes it allot easier then trying to cut down a thicker piece your self. This is where I've been sourcing all my wood for scales.

My espresso machine is decked out in Amboyna burl knobs and portafilter handle. By the time I wanted a matching tamper handle the price had tripled. Many of our thousand year old redwoods here in the US are being illegally poached for the burl. I'm a bit more educated and sensitive to what I allow myself to use for pleasure when there are more than adequate substitutes.
