HI Castillo,
Just noticed your location!
I was stationed in Yokosuka for three years in the early 60's. Much has changed since then. I look at Google maps and try to orient myself with old memories. Lived in an old hotel above and behind Chuo Station on the hill. An exchange student from High School lived in Kamakura so I spent off time there and long liberties at Hakonese hotels or rode the original bullet trains to kobe, Nara for sight seeing. Tokyo I didn't care for other than to Akehabara for electronic goodies. Was nice, I could stand anywhere with a dumb expression and a child would come up to me and ask if they could help me find my directions, in English.
360¥= 1 USD.
Enjoy all you can of the Country, parts of it are beautiful.

Hot vinegar makes a nice patina without killing your blade
Plenty of post about it on here
I have done it without any problems and then honed and used it no problems to date
