Thanked: 220Definitely easier with a shorter blade, but like 10Pups says, it's all in the way you use it.

Makes sense to remember, before shaving, which blade length you are using!
Ear lobes do like that suggestion!
Have fun!

I love a shorter blade. I have a goatee so it requires a shorter blade. If i use a longer blade I have to use it at more of an angle.

Thanked: 580Never tried one, but the Kamisori and quite a few of the western grind Japanese razors appear to have short blades, must be a reason knowing them, ease of use I would say.

Thanked: 1936Every time I use a longer blade it seems to find one of my ear lobes, I don't know why.

I remember watching a video Lynn(?) made a while back about the size of blade he recommended to new guys. I seem to remember him mention not being too comfortable with anything over the 3", IIRC.
I didn't lobe myself, but I sure did bury the tip in my cheek a couple times. I'm far less comfortable with over 3". For me, like said above, I would have to think long and hard.
