Thanked: 118That:s a beauty. I love the scales also.
EnjoyMay your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!

Thanked: 118Yeah man, that is a beautiful razor. I really wanted it but my budget won't allow for any more purchases for some time to come. Those royal blue, translucent scales are gorgeous.
I have a Filly 13 Doble Temple which is easily one of my favorite razors, probably top ten (out of a collection of a couple hundred). I love the 13/16 inch width, big enough to shave a lot of area before needing to wipe off the blade but small enough to get under the nose, around the ears, etc. The grind is great, thin enough to be light and responsive but heavy enough to have some weight and power to it. I actually like that mine is not NOS and missing the goldwash because I am not afraid to use it. The blade took one of the best edges, sharp and smooth and gives a great shave with zero irritation.
I do have a Filly 14 Sub Cero but it's more for the collection that actual use. Still I have used it a couple of times and it shaves great. I have no proof but I believe if you read the other threads discussing Filarmonica you will find that supposedly all of their steel is the same for the Doble Temple, Medallon Taurino, etc. and just have different stampings/goldwash *except* the Sub Cero which is supposedly cryo-tempered or something.
Also, if you find you love the Filly and decide to buy another, avoid buying any that don't have "Jose Monserrat Pou" stamped on them like this one. Again, I am only repeating what I have read here on SRP, but supposedly the razors missing the JMP stamping were made in the 1980s after the death of the founder JMP and quality in the razors took a real nose-dive.

Thanked: 45Thanks for the tips goldragon! I will certainly keep my eyes out if I decide to go down the Fili path any further (this hobby really is an addiction). I am trying to get most of the basics represented at first....next on the vintage list is either a D.Duck or W&B depending on what is floating around out there....I also have paid for a PRC that should get to me in the next 3 weeks....I am excited for that one as well!
