I've honed several, the steel is good quality and grind issues are minimal. Some required two pieces of a Super 88 to duplicate the bevel width. The 8/8 I honed was really nice.

They are changing to a thicker bar stock specifically to eliminate the need for that second layer of tape, according to the blog. I have not read any where of Customers complaining about how well the edge holds (or doesn't as the case may be).
Looking forward to putting edge to cheek in a couple months and will definitely be reporting back on how they feel to a newbie.

Thanked: 4I have had my Portland Razor for about 6 weeks and am very satisfied. It shaves smooth with no pulling. I like the weight and stiffer feel of the quarter hollow blade. I am new to straight shaving but am starting to get shaves comparable to what my Muhle R41 produces, though it still takes me a lot longer.
As a side, I dropped and bent my razor the first week I had it. PRC repaired it on same day turn around and only charged me $5 for shipping. Great product and great customer service.

Thanked: 5Hopefully you didn't try to catch it!...have stitched one or two of those mistakes up over the years...Ditto, how did you "bend" the blade? I have bent edges but never a blade although I have seen them shatter or fracture when dropped any significant distance...
