Bob, I agree with you about the cheap, scraping SEs not being meant for shaving. They would be rough.

If you are talking about Grand Marais being the town in MN, their Ben Franklin seems to have everything!

Checked the local grocery for blades this morning.

    No SE
    No DE

One tube of Neutrogena shave cream
A few cans of Barbasol on sale.

A zillion carts/razors for men and women.

Men must be shaving in the shower or getting their soap/blades somewhere else.

    They are definitely not S.L.A.M.ing!!!!

It will be interesting to confirm that these will fit the EverReady razor.

IIRC the blades I found were in the drug stores too.

    Thank you Leatherstockiings,
I received the SE blades and was very much looking forward to a first SE shave.
A bit worried that perhaps these were not for shaving but paint removal.
That concern was soon dispelled as I continued shaving.

Very impressive,... smooth, close and non aggressive.

I'm picking up a few more to give away.

In answer to my earlier question, yes the SE blades fit both Everready and Gem SE razors.

    Good to hear, Raol.
How would you compare the GEMs to your favorite DE blades?

I should explain first that as a SR shaver I don't use the DE's all that much and this is my first foray into the world of SE's.
I have a large supply of Astras so haven't had the need to try other DE's.
What I can tell you from only one shave is that the SE blades you sent me gave a more comfortable shave than the Astra DE's used in my Merkur Progress Adjustable Safety Razor.
I don't know if the difference is the blade or the blade or the razor?
Could be either but at this point my guess is the SE blade outperforms the DE.

I think Astra DEs are good blades so it's impressive that you think the Gem compares so favorably.

The real difference in shaving with an SE is the blade angle. With the head almost flat against the skin it shaves much as a straight razor. Used as a hoe, it will leave your face raw.
Seems that you got it right the first time!
    Enjoy!
