Kirschbaum & Weichardt Solingen any infor?
So I picked up a REALLY clean straight at an estate sale today. It looked really clean, but seemed to have some small spots of rust up by the spine. They had it listed on the price tag as being $70 and that the scales were ivory. I explained they were not ivory but bone, haggled a bit and got it for $35. When I got home washed it up with a bit of soap and water and what you see is how it came clean. The "rust" spots were just bits of the box stuck to the blade. The box says it's a 3/4 but measuring it's more 13/16.
Searched the site and the wiki and found pretty much nothing on the maker. Does any one know anything about Kirschbaum & Weichardt? From the appearance and style of the blade any idea of age? It does look on the newer side.

I know Kirschbaum & Weichardt had the Bethlehem trademark, so searching for Bethlehem razor may give you more information.
And the 13/16 vs 3/4 is because they used to measure from the middle of the spine to the edge of the blade. These days it seems that people measure from the top of the spine to the edge of the blade. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Thanked: 3226That is a very nice condition pre war razor, congrats. While looking for info on your razor's makers I found that since 1953 a Kirschbaum has been associated with managing DOVO DOVO - Masterpieces in steel - History - . Kind of makes you wonder if they are related to the Kirschbaum that was co-owner of Kirschbaum & Weichardt per war.

Wow, shaved with this razor this morning. AMAZING! I don't normally prefer wide blades, 5/8 seems to be good. But this razor is making me reconsider.
Plus, this restored my faith in my honing. For some reason the last couple razors I honed just didn't come together. Visually they looked spot on, the shave told me different. So I was a bit apprehensive after honing this razor. This is now my favorite razor. One more "no name" out shaves the "big names".
