Gentlemen,
I had a Numax once and the blasted thing was a disaster. The steel was bad and the grinding inept. No matter what I did, I just could not put a good edge on the razor. I sent it to a friend, a master honer, and he couldn't do anything with it, either. Finally I sold it as is, explaining my inability to sharpen it. There is no information available on the Numax. I assume it dates from the 1920s or 1930s in Solingen, Germany.

I have a Numax just like RezDogs only black. It is an ok shaver. Nothing special nothing terrible.

Thanked: 4827Mine is very good. I find Obie's experience bizarre with what mine was. I bout mine essentially NOS with the waxed paper and sealed box, it you could call that sticker a seal, and inside was the razor seen above, a little dirty from time, but in new condition.

Thanked: 90Mine is an awesome shaver and takes a great edge. It was my Grandfathers too so it has sentimental value to me. Only problem is the back side scale by the pivot pin cracked and had to reglue. Mine also has some numbers written on the back side of the blade. Not sure what they mean.

What's ironic is that mine was new old stock and never used. It came fully packaged. But what a disaster. As I noted earlier, no matter what I did, the razor would not take an edge. My friend, who is one of the great honemeisters, failed to do anything with it also. In the end we both concluded that mine, for some reason, had been a lemon. Something for sure was wrong with the steel and the grind. It was a handsome razor, though.
