Indeed, it is! I think it is more to be interpreted as "Tamahagane steel, which is special" and not "a special kind of Tamahagane",
but this is just my idea...
You see these "special" markings everywhere on Japanese razors and -stones, it is just the same as the present time,
where everything is "amazing", and "the best", "most incredible", "super", and so on...

Just received this in the mail, do you mind translating for me?
Of course, I can always get get a vertical orientation on the pics I want horizontal, then the one time I want it to be vertical....Last edited by jfk742; 07-20-2019 at 06:48 AM.

(= a trademark of: “Toyo Koken Co. Ltd”)
