Joseph Rodgers & Sons
This arrived today in the mail. I'm liking it thus far. Needs a bit of cleaning up in time. I am guessing the scales are bone. Interesting markings on the tang..... V R and a crown. Here are some of the listings pics. I haven't had a chance to take any..... Any info on this razor would be great!
Is it over there or over yonder?

Neat! Could I venture a guess and say the box has Rodgers upon it?

No Coffin box with it. I looked up the makings.

The terms 'Silver Steel', 'Warranted", And the declaration of being made during Victoria Regent era describes about a jillion razors still in existence from the mid-late 1800's. Most with makers names, marks. This one has no maker's name, nor mark.
While I surely doubt Rodgers had a thing to do with it (unless an apprentice made it during lunch. It happened!) It IS cool. This is a Generic Sheffield razor. Looked older than it was as-made as it does now. A real beauty. The bone scales are right and the blade looks likely. All-original.
It could well have been made by a good number of blokes, but Sheffield, it is! An everyman's razor. Hone it up!Last edited by sharptonn; 04-08-2015 at 02:34 AM.

Hmmmm..... On a site I looked at.... V (crown) R was said to be one of their markings...... So the scales are bone? I kinda figured they were. Ivory would have a nice bonus.....lol
Found an older SRP posting on this subject of the V R.... I need to read it.... no spoilers....lol

Yes, Rodgers used that designation during a time period. So did many makers. Seems it was required for a good while, or at least, optional.
