Thanked: 4The Holy Grail of Straight razors....
Ok guys...a question here....is there a rare or perhaps old razor considered to be the holy grail of straights? A make or model ?
I have spent days and days reading the forums and realize different strokes for different folks but wondered if there was a concensus of the rare and wonderful.

For shaving? I'd offer that his holy grail isn't likely the same as mine.
For collecting? I'd start out suggesting an 8/8 Wade and Butcher for Barbers but, I've seen in the past two years here, "grails" change."We'll talk, if you like. I'll tell you right out, I am a man who likes talking to a man who likes to talk."

User by user I think. Some are beautiful and coveted but once attained a new Grail search begins.
I have about 5 Grail razors. Searched and waited and saved and then found or purchased and moved on to the next. 7 day set in ivory maybe? I am sure I will convince myself I NEED another soon."The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas." -Linus Pauling

"Grail-ness" surely will vary from person to person. Mine would be taking a trip to Italy and having Mastro Livi make a totally bespoke razor (per my specifications) with me on site watching every step of the process.

Thanked: 3227There ain't no universal "holy grail" razor from what I can see and read. Every shaver/collector is obsessed with chasing their own "Moby-Dick" whale of a razor.

Thanked: 3795My holy grail is my one hundred and first razor.
In theory after I have made a hundred, the next one should be pretty adequate.
