Thread: Is Brand New....inclusive of scratches?????

    Not knowing the manufacturer makes it hard to say whether this is acceptable or not. For example if this was a Gold Dollar it would be fine, a Filarmonica not so much....

    I'm with Martin on this , why not mention the maker? Maybe that's a good quality from that particular company, as stated heck if a gold dollar it's mint!

    thanks all. Was just was trying to get a feel for the quality coming from others experience as I haven't bought many new razors.

    Even though I did not purchase direct from the manufacturer(Wacker), I sent them an email with these photos to confirm if this is in fact their quality standard since they are well known for quality and are a small operation who I hope want to keep their standards high for what is being sold with their name on it.

    To me a Wacker that been whacked like that is unacceptable.

    I've had two Wacker razors which were about perfect when I got them. I was also curious as to the point being muted the way it is in the first photo. I don't know Wacker razors well enough to know whether that was a factory muted point, or whether someone honed it and did the point themselves.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    After looking at the pics, reading the comments and factoring in all the razor purchases l was not satisfied with over many years, l recommend that you make a polite issue of the situation to try and get this resolved.

    Is your money hard- earned??

    Great. But did you contact the vendor? If it is a German vendor - and considering your location is in Germany, I assume it is - that is where the legal responsibility lies.

    Someone on SRP used the analogy of buying a car (I paraphrase): "If you buy a new Mercedes from a dealer, and it turns out there are issues with it, who would you contact: Mercedes or your car dealer? A razor is really no different."

    Is this a used razor? That you bought from an individual? If that's the case then it really isn't Wackers , but they might be interested in manufactures flaws , but as used I can't see that it's there problem any more , If new I would have them fix it , but now it's up to you to talk to who you bought it from.     It almost looks like a used razor. I wouldn't accept it. If it was honed by someone before sending it to you as an added service that might be acceptable. For a new piece that's sloppy, very sloppy almost like a second.

    as update, I contacted both the vendor who sold it to me and also Wacker direct to confirm if it was normal quality for a new product(even though I explained I did not buy direct from them). The vendor agreed upon a return without question.

    More impressive was that Wacker replied to my inquiry very timely stating that my purchase was not the quality of a new product and they would look at the razor and either repair the scratches or switch it out with another(as I told them I would be near Solingen next month on a business trip and would much appreciate the chance to visit their location anyway and peruse their inventory). They asked when I would be there and perhaps even get to meet the Man behind the curtain while I am there!

    Now that is 1st Class......
