    I was surprised that the residue came off as easily as it did. I am unsure what it was exactly...some sort of dried up oil or the like. It actually stunk while I was wiping it off.

    great razor! i have a vintage frio myself, but a fair warning, keep an eye on those scales. if it's only a little tarnish it doesn't matter but be carefull it's not early cellrot. especially with you saying it smelled funny while rubbing it..
