Thanked: 2As a quick update, my PRC razor arrived today. Total wait time was slightly less than 15 weeks.
It's got a nice feel and balance, though I haven't shaved with it yet. At first look, I confess that I'm slightly disappointed in the craftsmanship -- the final polish of the blade is a bit uneven, and I don't feel the custom scales came out quite the way Scott had initially offered. But I'll probably feel better about it after I use the thing.

Montanan I'm sure Scott would want you to be a happy and satisfied customer. You should contact PRC and give Scott the opportunity to correct any issues with your razor.

Thanked: 2Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what to do. The issues I have are not major, but they're sufficient to keep me from ordering another PRC razor, or recommending the company ... and under normal circumstances I'd certainly send off an e-mail. But the circumstances at PRC are of course not normal right now, and I think I'd feel kind of heartless if I sent that e-mail.
And to be honest, I'm not sure I want to send my order back into another 15-week vortex ...

Scott is working again around his cancer treatments. If you contacted PRC I have believe your razor would get fast attention due to the circumstances. Instead of trying PRC in the court of public opinion, why not send them an email with your issues and give them a chance to respond.

Thanked: 2My post was meant simply to give an honest and balanced impression of the product I received. I don't believe the post tries anyone in a court of public opinion, and that was absolutely not my intent. I don't think it's helpful to have a situation where only gushing comments are considered acceptable, and ultimately that's not good for a vendor, either.
Anyhow, I tried my first shave with it this morning; it came with a good edge, and has a very nice balance and overall feel. In terms of design, my only criticism would be that the upper jimps need to extend farther towards the tang; their current placement on the blade is aesthetically pleasing, but they're not useful given the way many people will hold the blade. In other respects, I think the design is excellent.
I think I will write to Scott about the scales. The discrepancy between the sample that I was shown and what I actually received still troubles me this morning. It may have been a matter of my e-mail conversation with Scott not making it to the person who actually did the work, or it may simply have been so long that the discussion was forgotten. It's disappointing, but I don't believe that it was intentional.Last edited by Montanan; 06-09-2015 at 02:02 PM. Reason: typo ...

I too noticed the top jimps did not extend enough toward the tang and why I did a custom with PRC to get them to extend them. Still in que I guess to be made.

Montanan, I respect your opinion. You are a paying customer and have the right to be happy with your purchase. Contact PRC and place the ball in their court. Hopefully PRC will address your concerns and keep you as a satisfied customer.

Thanked: 45Kind of funny....I actually like the way the top jimps work, but I have a totally funky grip for my ATG passes....and they are just perfect for me in that regard! Random....just works for me. I can only say that mine came in fantastic shape with honey horn scales and the new design. I have kind of funny usage scenarios...I use my smaller hollows during my daily shaves during the work week and my heavier, larger blades on the weekends when I space my shaves out by an additional 1/2 day.

15 weeks seems to be the current standard, as my delivery notice came last week. IT left Portland for San Francisco, and is now on it's way from SF to (hopefully) Toronto. I hope to see it by the end of the week, but should be no later than next week.
