I too have my great grandfather's straight razor.

The scales were horn and the blade needed work. I sent it to Glen (GSSISGUN) and he restored it. My 17 year old son was the first one to use that razor probably since 1934 since that's the year his great great grandfather passed away.

I use it on occasion just to be able to know that I was using something that 'Wat' had used.

As far as I see it. You have Three Options;

1. Leave it as is and only for display.
2. Have it honed and leave it as is as far as looks.
3. Have it restored, honed and use it as per your discretion.

The Choice is yours. If you decide on either Options #'s 2 or 3. I highly recommend Glen.

Here's what he did for me:

You are very fortunate in having an Heirloom Razor. Take care of it and it will be around for generations to enjoy.
