This is only my opinion, I also have a Bismarck, three-pin, and have never really enjoyed the shave from it, patchy and not very comfortable.

As someone who usually blames myself, rather than the tool, it was honed by two different skilled people, and compared to all my other various straight razors, it seems to just never measure up...again, may be just my particular blade, or the way I use it, but not really a fan of Dovo razors.

Hmmmm, maybe get it honed by someone you trust and give it another shot.

Honed In progression From 1k through 12k and Stropped On aTreated Linen strop and then a leather strop. And it is Shave ready.
This is the description the seller gave of the razor. I thought with it being a Solingen it would be great, but after 3 passes on shaving it is disappointing. Will probably sell it and buy a Thiers-issard.
Hopefully that will be a fantastic razor. Better be for the price.

TI's are much better in my opinion, but if you're going to invest in a new production razor, personally I'd go with Revisor, closest newly made razor to that unmistakable 100-150 vintage/antique steel that consistently provides such superior shaves in my opinion.

Used my Revisor a week or so ago and again was very impressed with how nicely it performed - as always, YMMV.

I can tell you I have bought multiple razors from him. Mostly FW Engles and American straights like Genco and Torrey and all have shaved magnificently. I also purchased a Wonderedge Dubl Duck and it is my best shaving razor by far BBS shaves every time without even trying. I have never had to touch up a blade done by this seller.

I have no vested interest in saying this FYI. Just my opinion. I also agree I am not a fan of Dovo razors. I do not yet own a TI but I can tell you I love my Dubl ducks and FW Engles. Also have an awesome C-Mon as well. But in my opinion Genco's and Torrey's are still sig underrated and very obtainable. I have only had one Torrey out of about 20 that only shaved OK. The rest are excellent and honed by myself for the most part.

I hone on 1000/3000/8000/12000K Nani then chromium oxide paste. Strop on linen and then buffalo leather strop and usually hair popping sharp.

Consider sending it out for another honing but it may just be an average at best razor.

    Sorry.
