Thanked: 1NTS razors?
Hi guys,
I've been thinking about adding a razor with a stainless steel blade to my collection. There's a few Dovos I'm interested in.
However, last time I was in Dublin I found a shop selling NTS Razors with stainless steel blades. They're priced at 89 euros (which isn't too much) however I've never heard of the brand and have no idea if it might be worth getting one.
They're made in Solingen, so that might make it seem to be a decent razor.
the link for the razor is Straight razor
Have any of you guys any experience with these razors?
Thanks

At that price you're pushing the limits for a quality razor. The fact it says made in solingen means nothing. It's very possible it's made elsewhere and then polished up and scaled in Germany and then that qualifies it to be a German Made Razor.

Thanked: 1I was thinking along the same lines. I probably won't get the razor :L
I did think that the Solingen name was protected though, so if it says made in Solingen, it has to be made in Solingen?

Thanked: 3224Today "made in" does not necessarily mean it was produced in it's entirety in one country. Today parts are sourced globally and enough of the final assembly is done in the one country that the "made in" applies to. Back in the day Leica operated a plant in Midland Ontario that made Leica cameras and lenses but also supplied camera and lens parts to Leica Germany where they were assembled to be labelled made in Germany. It has been going on a long time.

i think the same. the blade maybe made in pakistan and assembled in germany then being selled as solingen. there is some other razor in similar cases as razzor etc.
in other case, for this price it would not to be the best razor you could have but something like GD.
btw this is the first time i see this brand of solingen and i did not find anything more.

Thanked: 489 Euros is almost exactly $100. It seems the entry level Dovos aren't much more than that, and maybe they're less expensive because they haven't had to ship them to the US and pass that cost on. I've never heard of NTS but I wouldn't let the price alone be a deal breaker.

I just bought a revisor SR from them for $86.07 out the door and in my hand...and from what I read on here they are very reputable.

i think do yourself a favor and go with proven brand. For what you want to spend i think you will be happier with a Dovo or Ralf Aust, there may be a Revisor in that range, just nt sure when u add vat.
