Thanked: 3225Johnathan Crookes bellied hollow
This English razor was a real surprise for me as it is a bellied hollow and behaves/sounds like a German ground extra hollow bellied razor. None of my other English hollow ground razors are anything like it. It is post 1891 as it is stamped "made in England" and the blade is etched with "finest hollow ground". Anyone know if it was common practice to send English blades to Germany for this kind of grinding or was it done in England? Either way it's one heck of a shaver.

Hey thanks Bob,
I had noticed various degrees of "bellies" on a number of my blades, never really thought much about them except that they 1. Give the blade a bit more stiffness. And 2. At some point the bevel will grow wider after however many hones... but I like the look and can appreciate the strength added.
Until I just read this thread I didn't know what a bellied blade was and then just looked it up I like learning new stuff about SR.“You must unlearn what you have learned.”
