Thread: Oil 01 Razor After Each Shave?

    I've never put anything on my razors and have never had any rust problems. I live in Colorado where it is dry, so YMMV, but I just make sure they are dry after shaving, strop them, and store them out of the bathroom. I have several 01 razors as well as plain high carbon.

    I use fine oil for sawing mashines , to covetre my blades . After i wipp it off and use the blade
    Never had promlems .

    How was the oil on that razor thoroughly removed? Could the solvent have contributed to the rusting speed? In air I think the two O2 atoms in a molecule hold together strong enough to no react easily with the iron in a blade. Maybe the oxygen in water is more easily stripped away to react with the iron? Maybe a scientist like Utopian can shed more light on this.

    It was a katana so was removed with uchiko powder & tissue paper.
