Interesting discussion, but seems a mirror of many on Solingen razors.

JMO, but several later-production Pumas have come and gone with me. I found Henckels and many others as good or better without the hype and price tag.

The exception is my old pre-war example which is a completely different animal. It shaves exceptional, to me.
    It will remain.

Henckels razors can still be got for reasonable prices on German eBay. Not least because they were probably the most produced razors ever. Or rather, still produced at decent quality well into the eighties.

That is not mentioning the infamous 7/8ths sold in batches some years ago. Those were vintage blanks ground by God knows whom.

Since my old Puma was one of the best shavers that I've ever used, I gambled on a couple of other Solingen razors. To my (slight) surprise, they were just as good.

Still have not found knives as good as my early '60s Pumas though...
