Quarter Hollow Grind
I'm wondering why there is a lack of quarter hollow grind razors for sale.
I've always purchased quarter hollows and I have a near wedge custom.
Recently I bought a full hollow T.I, basically because I liked the spine work, "Flower Pattern"
It has surprised me because the edges I get on it a really, really nice, although getting used to holding a thinner tang is a bit awkward.
I do have larger sized hands.
Also honing it requires 2 hands because weight of the blade is so light.
I just wish more of the bigger manufacturers would make 1/4 hollows.
It's full hollow city out there and I don't know why, surely a quarter hollows are easier to make.
I know T.I do some half hollows. My bro has one, a 5/8ths 1/2 grind and he swears by it but I don't do 5/8ths.
Any thoughts?

TI make quarter hollows so do Hart Wacker and Heljestrand there are quite a few makers out there who supply and make quarter hollows including quite a few custom makers.

I have untold Hart razors, I've yet to find a T.I 1/4 hollow.
I don't think i'll buy another custom although I will get custom scales made from time to time.
My sights are set on my next razor. I want to hunt down a Wade & Butcher near wedge from an antiques shop in London and get it restored with some amazing custom scales.Last edited by JOB15; 08-15-2015 at 01:07 PM.

The 1/4 hollow is one of the great straight razor shaving experiences, as is the 1/2 hollow, the full hollow, and the wedge. The spiffy thing about the razor that celticcrusader posted above is also the shortened blade length. I have a more pedestrian version of that style blade and the cutting length is 2 1/8 inches. When you use one of those you wonder why more razors were not made this way.

If you like 1/4's then you need to look to the robust razor PRC cranks out! A true gem in my book!
