Well I may get some too at some point so I'll do the same when I do.
My concern is having pieces not thick enough to cut out even slabs and so needing to jig it.. don't want to have to do that because with horn its more likely to warp back.. maybe same? I wonder if cut it stays straight or warps anyway. Guess we will see.
Maybe a French 7 day with baleen scales and amber wedges? Hmmmm

I'm in Uruguay, South America, I'm wondering if you could send me a couple of blanks over here? I'm trying to scale a Filarmonica and I believe something close to ivory would look pretty good in it.

V79, baleen is black mostly and has brown and golden striations in it, pretty stuff.

I looked on the Canada Ebay and there was some raw baleen, as on the US side the natives can scrimshaw a ??? mark on the baleen and sell it as art work. The piece was about 125$ U.S. and would make 30 sets of scales, roughly.

Have friends checking for some Ivory and baleen. All findings will be cleared by fish and game.

Just type in Bowhead whale baleen, should come up, I did not get a link and am not registered on the .CA Ebay, think I can beat that price from Alaskan natives by a long way.

    There ya go.

The seller wrote back to me and said that eBay wrote them in the morning stating that the item would likely be removed but that they would contact within 48hrs.
It was in middle of night, woke up, couldn't sleep...
Anyway I got it. Didn't want it to slip away and looked like a great deal. ? I dunno.
well we will see if it is a pain in the arse or a dream!

Good catch there Mike, the only thing left of super rarity are Narwahl Ivory, I have seen the live animal, they grow to about 15 ft and the Ivory unicorn can get to 10 ft long. I traded for 14" of a broken tip once, wish I still had it.

Thats a 70 lb elephant tusk and there is no diff between male and feamale walrus tusks.
If the walrus tusks are white they are 100% illegal to sell, trade or even give away,I know, I have many of them.
