Thanked: 20Here's to the "Nobody's"
While many in our obsession, err, enthusiasm, long for blades such as the Filarmonica, Dubl Duck, Wade & Butchers, TI's,etc sometimes it's the "no name" brands that get overlooked.
Case in point, while I am lucky enough to own one of each of the above named razors, I find myself in love with, and preferring, some of the razors that never get any, or very little, SRP love. Last night I shaved with a frameback made by "R.Cardonnel". I have looked all over but have been unable to locate any information on this particular razor. Even though I know very little about the razor, I can unequivocally state it shaves better than any of the "big gun" razors. I have also had similar results with a few of my "hardware store" razors as well.
I guess this just shows that there really are 'diamonds in the rough' and that good deals can be had by all.
So I raise my glass to all the great shaving "Nobody" razors out there that are giving great shaves everyday!

Well said, I totally agree, and... they slip through, under the radar, on the auction sites.

Thanked: 4827I have or rather son #2 has a really great razor that is simply marked Sheffield. The other really great thing about these unknown champions is that they never cost much. I have not found any no name soaps that rock my world, but I keep trying.

A very valid point.
I have a few of them myself, and they win on two counts.
Price AND performance.
Love finding those gemsBjoernar

I agree there are many out there. Even some GD's I hear! But I guess I will stick to the known and if I ever get a chance to buy a real cheap "no name" I will give it a whirl and sing it's praises if it works out. Congrats!

Thanked: 1I hear ya!
In my searches for an American made razor, I came across one of these. I was a skeptic at first because they are a relatively new company with little to no renown; I took the plunge. I haven't been disappointed yet!

I have many of those "no name" razors, and I agree that they can give great shaves! The fact that I can often get them for around $10 is nice too

My favorite razor in my collection is a very plain "Chas. Huffschmidt". It's an 11/16 round point in black Bakelite scales. It was one of my first straights and the first one that I successfully honed. Takes and holds a great edge and I use it at least twice a week. I don't worry about little scratches or stains on it either. Dubl Ducks and Fillys are known quality razors but most of what you are paying for, in my opinion, is fancy looks and a name. I have nothing against paying a more for those things, but they're not necessary for a great shave.

Keep in mind many of these "no name" razors are branded with retailers and wholesalers names on them and many are in fact made by big brand makers.
