Wooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Murrica. IDK, some of the razors I have seen coming out of Soligen are not all that great either. Actually, any entry level DOVO I have purchased, not professionally honed, did not shave that well or was dull as a butter knife. Some, even after honing, shaved mediocre at best. I have had one DOVO BQ razor that shaved really well. If you do not like the style of the razor that is one thing. Harts are not beauty queens. They are not traditional in the style. I am not a big fan of the scales either. The weight never bothered me. I love the heft of the razors. I have had one Ralf Aust, did not see what the big deal was...I know every body loves RA, but meh. The one Boker I owned was really nice, impeccable.

Really, can we have a day without the snide remarks, Robin? I understand your point that production razors are one-third the price of a Hart razor and might actually shave better. The Murrica reference adds nothing to your argument.

    To the op:
It appears you may be questioning the edge because you just might not know what a quality edge is. This is not uncommon when trying to evaluate what is lacking in your shave.

You can send it to me, I will shave with it & get back with you. If the edge is lacking, I will put a proper edge on it. Just cover the return shipping.

Actually, it does. Just take a moment to analyse the threads about them, and most buyers will tell you that they bought them because they were made in America, by Americans. Nothing wrong with that, mind you. Many good things come out of America. Only, I see a wee problem when the fact who made a product where becomes the only feature to set this product apart. Which, in my limited experience, is the case with Hart razors.

And just to clarify, I was talking about "custom" razors, not "production". Dovo is the only company left who makes large quantities of razors. Ralf Aust is a one man operation - which makes Hart a production company by comparison. However, the whole "custom" point is somewhat moot when it comes to Hart. Because custom means "made specially for individual customers", which is, well, not quite the case. Hart razors are to custom razors what tailored garments are to bespoke ones.

If you had of put it that way in the first place it might have been far better than the bursque way you did in your initial post by your Murica effect reference.

Robin, I think discussing the definition of custom is as pointless as discussing the meaning of restoration with regards to razors. It seems that the definitions are interpretable by various people as meaning different things. I have a very clear idea of what these definitions should be but having had the discussion before it seems to not be universal.

Murrica is a slang term used to degrade southern Americans as unintelligent.

Damn you ask a question about the sharpness of a razor and the next thing a whole country is insulted. Looks like someone is having bad day!
I bought the HART razor cause I wanted my first custom razor also I had an opportunity to shave with one and I thought it was pretty good.

I like my Hart. The factory edge was not good. It honed up very nice. Maybe the scales could have been better but they do their job. I like the quarter grind and weight. To each his own.
