“I got it from Classic Shaving. My experience they are pretty straight up. Also, this came from Hart. Where the entire package was wrapped. Don’t get me wrong, there are humans who make these razors , and humans sometimes make mistakes. The true proof is to try a pass with it."

I have two Hart's. Love them both as shavers. I rotate them daily, except on the weekends when I whip out a collectable or another custom razor.
As for the edge, your face will tell you if it is shave ready on the first pass. If it's not sharp move on and have it touched up.
I got my Hart's directly for them at Classic Shaving, and to me the edges were just as good as the ones I've gotten from other honemiesters before I learned to hone.
But, they are human like you said.

I have purchased two Hart Razors. The first one was a great razor, but I let someone local work on it and it became an awesome razor. I sold it, kick myself for doing so. The second Hart I purchased was not as good. I sent it back to Classic Shaving to have it evaluated. They will either have it rehoned or will send out a new one. The second was not bad, but the grind seemed a little uneven in parts. Of course, it might still take a good edge if they rehone it. Like others have said, SRD does not sell Hart razors. The second Hart I purchased from VintageBlades, but Classic Shave is still handling the return. So far they have been very nice and courteous. Though the turn around is taking awhile.

Mine was not shave ready when I got it, but it was close. It just needed a quick touch up.

I have tried three Hart razors. First impression when handling them was, "are they bloody joking?" The scales were laughable. The weight of the razors was disheartening. The shaves were mediocre, at best.

A few minutes of quality time with a hone later, they actually shaved. And that was that.

The Murrica factor aside, these razors cannot compete with entry level Solingen razors. Yet they cost three or more times as much. Reason for buying? Murrica. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Thanks Robin.

I'm trying to learn how to make razors and now I have a name for them.

Wooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Murrica. IDK, some of the razors I have seen coming out of Soligen are not all that great either. Actually, any entry level DOVO I have purchased, not professionally honed, did not shave that well or was dull as a butter knife. Some, even after honing, shaved mediocre at best. I have had one DOVO BQ razor that shaved really well. If you do not like the style of the razor that is one thing. Harts are not beauty queens. They are not traditional in the style. I am not a big fan of the scales either. The weight never bothered me. I love the heft of the razors. I have had one Ralf Aust, did not see what the big deal was...I know every body loves RA, but meh. The one Boker I owned was really nice, impeccable.

Really, can we have a day without the snide remarks, Robin? I understand your point that production razors are one-third the price of a Hart razor and might actually shave better. The Murrica reference adds nothing to your argument.
