    Default Scale material ID help

    These scales are natural but I'm unsure if they are horn or perhaps tortoise shell

    From your photos I cannot tell if they are translucent or opaque. They look opaqe which would make them most likely horn.

    They are translucent but saturated in neatsfoot oil at the moment to help bring them back to life.

    They actually have some green in them as well.

    Looking at the photos, I would say they're horn.

    Unfortunately the blade is shot and going to be replaced. It was a very old sheffield snub tail but it's honed down to a toothpick.

    99.9% sure that is horn, especially given the delamination and green hues. If memory serves me, Joseph Skidmore from Sheffield.
