I do not see any benefit of a spike point over square point. If anything you are more at risk to nick yourself with the spike point.

Agree that they are prone to draw blood, especially when you are starting out or any time you lose focus.

But if you have a Mo they are perfect for the small area under your nose.

I'm not a fan of those spiked points. I always mute mine. I learned the hard way.....lol
Is it over there or over yonder?

For me, I liked having a spike early on in my wet shaving journey. A good spike will insist on proper technique. Namely, making sure that you properly stretch the skin and blade angle.

    Or else...

One too many "learning" opsie and read about muting the point. I'm cautious whenever I am shaving. Lather is supposed to be white/ creamy colored...... Not pink or red....lol

Thank you very much gentlemen for all your inputs. I do agree with all of you, a sharp point requires concentration. However, in my opinion, when it comes to a sharp point or not there is not right or wrong; it is really just a matter of personal preference which you choose.

Back to my original question. There is not much information available at all about the Eye brand razors. I also tried to find out when Carl Schlieper stopped making razors and began to make only knives, but I was not lucky either. And the logo, as well as the “Marca registrada” in Spanish, really makes me curious.

Is there anyone here who owns one and then could tell me if you hone and strop them in the same way than any other razor?

You hone and strop like any other razor. I have honed a few of them, they shave superbly when done right.

I think you are correct in your assumption that the razor was made for a certain market because of the etching on the blade. I don't think that was an uncommon practice for various Solingen makers. A lot of razor makers also made knives at the same time as they made razors. I do not believe it was an either or thing.

I know this..........you have a German (Solingen) made razor. That in and of itself means you have a great shaving razor once shave ready if it did not come that way. It is a very attractive razor that will give you many years of service and quite honestly if taken care of and if you have a son will be passed down to him.

Enjoy and give a shave update once you shave with it.
