Worst case scenario- look around for one of the well regarded vendors currently offering inexpensive or free honing. Let them get the blade to spec and then go from there.

Solitary, normally I would agree with you 100% in this case it seems as OP was still trying to figure things out I don't think he thought the problem was with SRD at first (am I right?). Either way SRD is a solid vendor and I buy a lot of stuff there. Customer service with a phone call is the easiest way.
No harm no foul. OP send your razor back to them for honing at least you have something to shave with in the meantime.

Dave he didn't think the problem was with him. That only leaves the fault to one other party , as a fellow wet shaver I do hope he figures it out. I would be upset too and have been when receiving razors from a different vendor that came shave ready. I have made threads such as this before.. but in hindsight I always felt like a weenie especially because I knew in my head I didn't give the vendor a fair chance to make things right before bringing it to the forums.
He is more then welcome to ask questions about what could have happened. I just had a problem with the following.
1. He didn't contact the vendor first.
2. He isn't a noob. He knows what a good shave feels like. Therefore knowing it wasn't his stropping that was the culprit.
3. He thinks that a tiny bit of oil that protects the blade from rust that would have been wiped off in the first stroke or two shaving could be the cause of his distress.
We are all in this together. I wish only the best for everyone who braves the straight shave.
He wasn't attacking SRD outright but I felt it was an inappropriate way to deal with what should have been a closed doors conversation.
That is all I've got to say and Smyth. I hope you get that Aust shaving smooth the way you want it.

I will only chime in to say I bet Lynn will fix that razor up for you and fix the problem if indeed it was there and not even charge you as a way to show you how great they are. I have bought a few RA from SRD and each have come sharp enough to do surgery with true precision!

Gentlemen, I know we have a no vendor bashing policy. But I am going to assume (right or wrong) that the intention is to maintain neutrality on the message boards and not devolve into a place to vent unfairly.....especially when we consider where this site comes from. But when we can't even have a civil discussion about a purchase we are not being neutral. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the OP is not going to return to this thread and say that things went well after contacting the vendor because he has had his face rubbed in it. There was two ways this thread could have gone. This one seems like the wrong one.

Thanked: 19I will be happy to report back, should I go that route. I haven't bashed SRD so I wouldn't feel like them taking care of a problem would somehow cause me embarrassment, and in any event I don't traffic in false pride. I've purchased items from SRD before, with happy results, and will continue to do so.

I agree that the OP's thread here was not of an issue and I read through some of the comments and wondered where some were coming from. I ran and owned a web site for the hobby of airgunning years ago. I paid the entire cost out of my own pocket from my air gun side business. I just asked folks to take an initial issue up with the vendor/manufacturer first and maybe even a few times to get a resolve before reporting back and airing out the issue. If the OP did that on my site I say it was all fair against the vendor for not taking care of an issue that should have been by them.
I have left forums for such reasons as to members not being able to report back with 100% honesty. Once a forum takes this road it has no integrity nor respect as far as I am concerned.
But like I stated in a earlier post......I bet Lynn will take care of the OP's blade with no charge if they really have a issue that is not on the users end. I have never seen Lynn nor any other associated with the business side unreasonable here in my estimation.
Good luck OP and don't worry from those who got defensive here......not sure what stake they may have in things. I think some just have nothing better to do.German blade snob!
