Thanked: 3795They are very common replacement scales. Curve of the edge/spine look fine to me.

Thanked: 52I have the same razor with the same scales, I believe that they are replacements. Got mine as a gift from a friend but it will take a bit more work than yours.
Should be a very nice shaver, enjoy!

For $5 you got a heck of a deal! I have a similar razor, they take a really nice edge and shave well.

Thanked: 21Haha. Good to know it should take an edge well. This razor had some rust spots that were of concern to me. I used that to bargain down the price, and b/c I felt the scales weren't original. Plus it wasn't restored and not shave ready. This antique store was trying to sell this razor (along with an old ratty shaving brush with 4" long bristles that looked like a round paint brush) for $75.00. The sales lady wasn't happy with my offer, but I think I made my case clear that the razor wouldn't fetch anywhere her asking price in its condition. I lowballed her with a $5.00 offer and she took it! I hope I can put a nice edge on it.
Anyone know of any good tutorials on honing a razor with a slight smile like this one? I've seen one by gssixgun before. Perhaps there are others....

They look pretty original to me I've had them with those scales.

I have seen many Bokers in that scale pattern. I would tend to say all original.

I rest my case.

+1 on that. I've had Bokers, and seen some I haven't had, that didn't have marked scales.
Back in the '80s one thing I noticed about replacement scales that the old barbers I knew had ........ a lot of them didn't have a pin at the wedge end. Just molded to have the one pin at the pivot.
An old barber told me that in the '50s, '60s barber supply houses had guys drive from shop to shop with supplies. They did replacement scales on the spot. No internet then, and if you're old enough to remember, sending things through the mail was very slow.
No 1-800 numbers and long distance calls were an arm and a leg. Different world back then.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
