Thanked: 21Boker mismatched scales?
Picked up this Boker today for five dollars. Talked them down because I didn't see a Boker mark on the scales. They look to me like generic celluloid scales. Am I correct? But the razor looks to be in decent condition and able to take an edge....

Thanked: 55Not sure on the scales. Looks like maybe the smile needs to helped back if you look at the straightness of the edge compared to the smiling spine. Looks like a sweet deal though.

Thanked: 3795They are very common replacement scales. Curve of the edge/spine look fine to me.

Thanked: 634Look at strazors.com. There is a Boker with the same scales. All Bokers did not have marked scale.

Thanked: 52I have the same razor with the same scales, I believe that they are replacements. Got mine as a gift from a friend but it will take a bit more work than yours.
Should be a very nice shaver, enjoy!

For $5 you got a heck of a deal! I have a similar razor, they take a really nice edge and shave well.

I have seen many Bokers in that scale pattern. I would tend to say all original.

I rest my case.

+1 on that. I've had Bokers, and seen some I haven't had, that didn't have marked scales.
Back in the '80s one thing I noticed about replacement scales that the old barbers I knew had ........ a lot of them didn't have a pin at the wedge end. Just molded to have the one pin at the pivot.
An old barber told me that in the '50s, '60s barber supply houses had guys drive from shop to shop with supplies. They did replacement scales on the spot. No internet then, and if you're old enough to remember, sending things through the mail was very slow.
No 1-800 numbers and long distance calls were an arm and a leg. Different world back then.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
