Thanked: 55Near wedge I think it is then. Would you think a bit of a bigger smile than standard would be a good idea or not? Honing I find easier on a smile than straight edge anyway. So only for shaving is the question? I'm jealous Kamp. Those four are gorgeous. Also I notice you have both the fine and coarse serrations/jimps, which do you prefer? That is another decision I'm struggling with.

I currently have 3 Koraat razors
The 2 on the left are 8/8 that I got directly from Ulrik.
The one on the right is a 6/8 that stole off of Ebay.
All are near wedge grinds.
All shave like Zamboni's. Nothing short of spectacular.
The 8/8's are quite a chunk of steel and a little heavy in the fingers. If you are used to bigger blades they should be no problem at all.
The 6/8 might just be about the perfect size and weight for an every day shaver.
The way that you configure yours is a very personal thing, but I'm sure that whatever you decide you will be thrilled. Don't let the mind boggling array of choices confuse you.
Good luck!!!

DMNC Thank you for your compliment.
You should ask Ulrik but I think all his blade have a very slight smile,
My 2 (8/8 1/4 barbers notch and near wedge) which I got from the configarotor I did fine jimps. His 2 seriemodels I got, got coarse jimps.
I prefer the fine Jimps but like everytjing else that is YMMV!
Have fun configarating yours!
If you have any further qustions feel free to PM me.

Thanked: 44I'd go for 8/8. You'd be able to wield it no worries and everyone has to have one 8/8, right? Might as well be this one!

Thanked: 101I vote for a 8/8" near wedge with a nice smile in black horn scales with brass hardware & a barber's notch. I have a 6/8" W. Greaves & a couple of W&B 6/8" near wedges that are ready for scales. I am looking for a Greaves or W&B 8/8" blade to work on. I have a new source for Bison horn & I want to try some scales from that. I have a tough beard that grows fast & the big near wedges just work best for me but at the moment my 6/8" German made Red Imp is #1 in my line up.

Thanked: 55Cheers guys for all your helpful suggestions and loved seeing some more of Ulrik's beautiful creations. Have placed my order. Now got about five weeks of feeling like a child waiting for Christmas ahead of me.

Thanked: 558/8 square point near wedge with barbers notch, little extra smile, small jimps top, bottom and thumb notch, antiqued finish on shank, nickelsilver wedge and rivets with grenadill scales (like the grain, horn looked too smooth and perfect for me) and rounded heel and toe.
Will post pics when it's in my hand.Last edited by dmnc; 01-28-2016 at 07:19 AM. Reason: Auto correct
