That gunk towards the edge looks slightly worrying, but I'm not sure. Doesn't even look like there's a bevel nor any hone wear on there yet....

Depending how bad/deep the rust is near the edge/bevel of a blade you may have to hone quite a bit of metal away to get to solid good steel with no pitting in the bevel. As you have some chips in the edge you will have to hone those out anyway. For that reason it may work out well.

IMO Pass. You can polish it up nice, but you will never get out all the pitting at the edge. Too much rust at the business end. Not much steel to work with down there. For that much money or a little more… you could get a better shaver on the classifieds again IMO.

Thanks Mike and thank you everyone else that chimed in, it helped a lot. I passed on it after taking some time to think on it. For the price and my untrained eye I didn't want to make a spendy mistake. I had the same thoughts about the rust on the edge, it seemed to be more than just surface rust. Whats funny is im not bummed about, I went to a few more shops and scored a wade and butcher for $17. It seems to be in way better shape more to follow. Thanks again for all the input.
