    Default French point

Can't tell for sure is a French point squared off at the end? Not sure if this would be good for me as a 2nd razor as I'm still new. I know square can be tricker and cause more cuts but wasn't exactly sure if a French point qualified as that.

Mist of my razors are French points, it's my preference in looks. But I,m one of the guys who mutes that tip, so it,ll work for you and if you keep getting bit, rub that point a little on the side of a hone or rub it on the underside of a windowsill, still has the sharp point look yet eased just enough to not get you. And like has been said you can always get that point back. Tc

I believe on strazors.com under construction there is a chart that shows different parts of razors.

From the SEP library The straight razor - Straight Razor Place Library

No, a French tip is not squared off but looks like a modified round point to me.

Any tip can cut you, even a round point.

It is all about technique: lather, blade, stretching, coordination, concentration.

Concentration may well be the most determining factor. Never take your eye off that edge.

I shave with a square and french points and I've never had a problem. I just make sure I am aware of where the point is at at all times.

My french points and square points have an equal ability to nick my ear and nose more so than my round points; however, I don't think it is an issue as a 2nd razor. You'll get used to it quickly.

A round point is usually recommended, but I quickly grew to prefer the French and square points much better. As mentioned, mute the tip and just pay attention

Do not mute any tips as well.
Just have to pay attention when near the ear lobes!
